Hanging of the Greens
On December 1, 2013 High Country UCC welcomed the Advent season with reflection and traditional preparations for celebrating the Nativity of Jesus. People of all ages helped prepare the sanctuary with evergreens, flowers, lights, candles, bells and gifts. These symbols have roots in pre-Christian and early Christian traditions honoring the long nights around winter solstice, and the hope our faith sustains. We celebrate the revelation of God’s inclusive and nurturing love expressed through Christ’s birth in a humble stable.
