Our Pastor

The pastor of the High Country United Church is the Rev. Dr. Shelly Wilson. Shelly's educational experiences include Appalachian State University, BA in English; University College, Dublin Ireland, study in Anglo-Irish literature; Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, Master of Religious Education; Duke University Divinity School, Durham, Master of Theology with concentration in homiletics; and Wesley Theological Seminary, Doctor of Ministry with concentration in spiritual formation.

Shelly is a native of Boone, North Carolina and mother of Julianna. She has served churches in Jonesville, Roanoke Rapids, and Sparta. Her hobbies include hiking, cycling, reading, and writing.
