All are welcome

Two Earth Day Worship Opportunities with HCUCC on Sunday April 21, 2013

Please join us for one or both of the worship opportunities with HCUCC to celebrate Earth Day this Sunday!  Earth Day helps unite people of many cultures in the common goal of caring for our shared Earth. To do something special this year, we decided to also hold an Interfaith service at one of the locations many of us perhaps spend little time thinking about: our local landfill. What a great place to promote Earth care and environmental justice issues.

Our first service at 9am is a unique Blessing of a Landfill Interfaith Earth Day Service, to be held at 2464 US Hwy 421 S in Boone (adjacent to Landfill Road) at the location of the former Nissan Dealership. See here for a map for the 9am service. This will be a brief service including music, an interfaith litany of blessing, inspiring words from Rev Dr Shelly Wilson, and a chance to share prayers or intentions or wishes for the health of Earth and all beings. The service will be held rain or shine (there is a roof to keep off rain, but you might want to dress in layers).

Our second service at 11am is an Earth Day Celebration Service, to be held at HCUCC at 8233 US Hwy 421 N in Vilas. See here for a map for the 11am service. This service will be about an hour long, following the usual pattern of HCUCC worship which often includes music, litany, hymns, time with the children, scripture, sermon, prayers, meditation, and benediction. In honor both of Earth Day and our special Blessing of the Landfill, during the 11am service we will also see a preview of Landfill Harmonic, documenting a true trash to treasure story enriching the earth AND her faithful citizens. In addition, we will learn about more ways we can make a difference here and afar. Will you come join us this Sunday?

Remember, no matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome with HCUCC!
